Getting Your Home Ready For Winter

As the leaves start to change colour and the footy season has started back up again, it's a great time to look at how Manor Homes can help you winterproof your new home, as well as the steps you can take to keep those energy bills down when planning a build with Manor.

Draft Proofing

One of the most effective ways to ensure you're keeping the heat in and the bills down is draft-proofing. All new Manor homes are built in a factory facility and are not exposed to weather and external factors. This building process allows for greater accuracy in the build, so your new home will be precision built, which means we can get exactly the right finish on your home to help keep it draft-free.

Insulation

All Manor homes come with Thermal R1.5 wall and roof insulation as standard. High-quality thermal insulation acts as a barrier against the cold and captures the heat in your home in the winter months.

Flooring

Included in the package price of your Manor Home is the option for carpet in the bedrooms. The layer of Godfrey Hirst nylon carpet (and padded underlay) works as extra insulation, so your first step out of bed in the morning is on a soft, warm surface.

Home Design

We work with you to orient your new home on your property to maximise the sunlight it receives in winter. The shape of your roof and the placement of your windows and skylights are all designed to ensure your home gets the most from winter sun to maintain optimal temperatures.

Interior Design

In addition to the structural ways to prepare your house for winter, there are also many interior design options to keep your home warm and cosy.

Adding curtains to your windows can assist in keeping the warmth inside; adding area rugs to your living spaces can add an extra barrier against the cold (as well as look great), and extra throw rugs in your living areas are always a great idea to battle the cold.
