Best regional areas to build in NSW

Ettalong Warf - Central Coast

It’s no secret that Sydney’s property market has become largely unaffordable for the everyday punter, which has left many first-home-buyers and young families seeking alternative living arrangements. The good news is, the rise in Sydney house prices has lead to the growth of many fringe and commuter towns in regional NSW as Sydney buyers flock to new and emerging areas surrounding the region. This trend has opened doors to many new and exciting opportunities for families, one of which is the ever-increasing idea of a much-needed tree change or sea change alike.

Now, if it’s investment areas you’re interested in, QBE’s Australian Housing Outlook 2017 – 2020 report is a good indicator of expected price growth in 2017 – 2018 and beyond. Some big areas of note are certainly The Central Coast property market, in particular some of the best places to build on the Central Coast are Gosford, Wyong, Erina, Terrigal, Umina and Ettalong Beach which have all experienced the highest levels of growth which is expected to continue, along with regional areas of the Central Coast. We’re also seeing growth south of Sydney, with Wollongong, Stanwell Park, Goulburn, Shoalhaven, Nowra, Leppington and Baulkham Hills all making an appearance on the growth stats.

Beyond these neighbouring regions, we are seeing large portions of Sydney families relocate all together; taking the tree change or sea change one step further and making a break for the hills of Newcastle. Newcastle, typically known as a logistics hub, is proving a viable living alternative with increasing property values, rising job opportunities and urban renewal projects such as a new light rail and city infrastructure planned for construction over the coming years.

For those looking to turn a new leaf it comes as a pleasant surprise to learn Newcastle & Hunter Valley are the faster growing regional towns of NSW; with more and more Sydneysiders voting with their feet, property demand is on the rise and expected to continue. It also comes as a nice change that more than just established homes being more affordable, there is also opportunity for building a home of your very own.

Newcastle and Hunter Valley have a vast amount of land in surrounding suburbs, making for an easy and enjoyable country commute to Newcastle CBD. A breath of fresh-air from Sydney in deed.
